Monster Mash-Up October 2013 Contest - Official Rules



1. Eligibility:To be eligible to win the Monster Mash-Up October 2013 Contest ("Contest"), you must 1) be a legal resident of the United States or Canada, excluding Quebec (the "Territories"), 2) be a registrant of Veer, a division of Corbis Corporation ("Veer"), 3) be above the age of majority in the jurisdiction where you reside at the time of entry, and 4) submit an entry that meets the Submission Requirements ("Participant"). Employees and representatives of Sponsor, its parent, affiliates, related companies, agents, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, any prize provider, and any entity involved in the development, production, implementation, administration or fulfillment of the Contest, and their immediate family members (defined as parents, children, siblings, spouse, or life partner) and persons living in the same household, are not eligible to participate or win. Sponsor reserves the right to verify eligibility and to adjudicate on any dispute at any time. 

Corporate Customers-If you are entering the Contest on behalf of your employer, these rules are binding on you, individually, and/or your company. If you are acting within the scope of your employment, as an employee, contractor, or agent of another party, you warrant that such party has full knowledge of your actions and has consent thereto, including your potential receipt of a prize. You further warrant that your actions do not violate your employers or company's policies and procedures.

2.  Term: Entries for the Contest will be accepted beginning on October 1, 2013 at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time ("PDT") through October 31, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. PDT (the "Entry Term").

3.  How to Participate: This is a skill contest in which Participants use specified images to create and submit a Monstrous Mash-Up ("Submission").  Participants will go to  , choose from a selection of images made available specifically for this Contest ("Images"), and combine the Images to create an original work.  Participants must use at least two (2) Images in the Submission.  Participants may use additional creative assets to create the Submission but only inasmuch as Participant has the legal right to do so. Participants will upload their Submission in a format acceptable to Facebook for display on Veer's Facebook wall located at: ("Website").

4.  How to Win:  Submissions received during each Judging Period will be evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of creative industry professionals as well as representatives from Sponsor ("Judges") to determine the potential winner. "Judging Period" will mean (i) October 1, 2013 at 12:01 AM PDT to October 7, 2013 at 11:59 PM PDT; (ii)   October 8, 2013 at 12:01 AM PDT to October 15, 2013 at 11:59 PM PDT; (iii) October 16, 2013 at 12:01 AM PDT to October 23, 2013 at 11:59 PM PDT; or (iv) October 24, 2013 at 12:01 AM PDT to October 31, 2013 at 11:59 PM PDT. The Judges will evaluate each Submission based upon the following criteria to select one (1) winner from each Judging Period with the highest score as the potential Judging Period winner:  33.3% Creativity; 33.3% Originality; and 33.3% Execution.  In the event of a tie, the Submission that received the largest Originality score will be selected as the potential winner. The potential winner's name will be posted at  on the day after the end of each Judging Period by 1:00 PM PDT.

In addition, all Submissions received during the Entry Term will be judged separately to determine the Grand Prize Winner.  To determine the Grand Prize Winner, the Judges will choose the Submission that is the most comedic.  In case of a tie, the winner will be the Submission that had the higher overall score from the Judging Period portion.  Odds of winning depend on the number of entries and the skill of the Participants.


The potential Grand Prize winner will be selected on or about November 4, 2013. All potential winners will be required to execute and return, within five (5) days  of issuance of notification, an affidavit of eligibility, release of liability, release of any third party displayed in the Submission and a publicity release (hereinafter "Affidavit and Release").  If Affidavit and Release are returned as non-deliverable, if a potential winner is found to be ineligible or not in compliance with these Official Rules, does not respond within the time period specified or cannot accept the terms and conditions of being a potential winner, the potential winner will be disqualified from receiving a prize, where lawful.

The Judges' decisions are final with respect to all aspects of the Contest. The potential winners will be notified by e-mail. If the prize notification is returned as undeliverable, the potential winner will be disqualified and an alternate potential winner will be selected based on the criteria for the selection of the winners described herein. If, in Sponsors' opinion, there is any suspected or actual evidence of electronic or non-electronic tampering with any portion of the Contest, or if technical difficulties compromise the integrity of the Contest, the Sponsor reserves the right to terminate the Contest and/or conduct a random drawing to award the Prize(s) using all entries received as of the termination date. Any attempt to deliberately damage the content or operation of this Contest is unlawful and subject to legal action by Sponsor or its agents.

5.  Prizes:   Four (4) Judging Period Prize winners will receive Prize packages including the following Veer-branded items: one (1) t-shirt (ARV $29.99), one (1) sweatshirt (ARV $49.99), one (1) hat (ARV $19.99), and twelve (12) Veer Credits (ARV $18.48) ("Judging Period Prize"). One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive a Prize package of one (1) Wacom® Intuos5® Touch Tablet (ARV $299.00) and sixty (60) Veer Credits (ARV $88.20) ("Grand Prize"). All tangible prizes will be sent to winners via US Mail within four (4) to six (6) weeks after the end of the Entry Term. Veer credits will be applied to Veer accounts four (4) weeks after the end of the Entry Term. 

6. Grant of Rights:  By entering a Submission, you grant Sponsor and its affiliates the permission to display and otherwise use the Submission as part of the Contest and to otherwise promote the Contest.  Further, by entering you warrant and represent that your Submission will not infringe on the rights of any third party, including any depicted persons or trademark owners. By entering the Contest, each Participant waives any and all rights he or she may have to the Submission including any so-called moral rights to demand that they are credited as the author whenever the Submission is reproduced and to complain and claim damages if the image is subjected to derogatory treatment.  Submissions that are deemed by the Sponsor in its sole discretion to be immoral, obscene, profane, defamatory or not in keeping with Sponsor's image will be disqualified.  Submissions will not be acknowledged or returned.  Incomplete Submissions will not be accepted.

7.  Conditions of Entry:By entering the Contest, you agree to comply with these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements. Furthermore, you consent to the Sponsor's and its partners, affiliates and subsidiaries use of your name, except where prohibited by law, and use, reproduction, and display of your Submission for any advertising and promotional purposes relating to the Contest, in any media now known or hereafter devised, without further notice, compensation, consideration, review, or consent and without regard to moral rights. Participants further agree to comply with and be bound by decisions of Sponsor, which shall be final in all respects. Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify and remove any Submission if it determines that the Participant is: (a) tampering or attempting to tamper with the operation of the Contest, the Website or any Sponsor web site; (b) violating these Official Rules; (c) violating the conditions of service, conditions of use and/or general rules or guidelines of any Sponsor property or service; or (d) acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. Sponsor also reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions governing the Contest from time to time at its sole discretion. 

8. Limitations of Liability:  By entering, Participants: (a) release and hold harmless Sponsor, and its respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability for any injuries other than death or personal injury caused by negligence, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the Contest (including but not limited to the receipt, use or misuse of any prize or any component thereof).  Sponsor assumes no responsibility or liability for the following: (a) computer, online, telephone or technical malfunctions that may occur; (b) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by website users, any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest, or any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of Submissions in the Contest; (c) any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries; (d) any problems, failures or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, providers, computer equipment, software, email, players or browsers, on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, at any website, or on account of any combination of the foregoing; (e) any injury or damage to Participants or to any computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials in this Contest; or (f) any use or inability to use the prize awarded, which use shall be subject  solely to the Conditions of any warranty offered by the manufacturer of such prize. If, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including because of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, force majeure, or any other cause beyond the control of Sponsor which may corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest, Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest if continuing with it becomes impractical for reasons beyond its control.

9. Privacy:  By entering the Contest, you acknowledge that you have already agreed to the conditions of Sponsor's privacy policy, located at, which control this Contest.  Unless prohibited by law, by accepting a prize you consent to Sponsor's use of your photograph, name, and/or domicile for promotion-related marketing purposes.   

10. Sponsor: Veer, a division of Corbis Corporation, located at 250 Hudson St., 4th Floor, New York, NY 10013, is the sponsor of the Contest ("Sponsor").

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction:   All federal, state, municipal, provincial, and local laws and regulations apply. This Contest and these Official Rules are governed and interpreted by the laws of the State of New York without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

12.  Winners List:  The names of the winners will be posted to the website and will be available until November 30, 2013.
